What is Life Coaching?

01

Life Coaching vs. Therapy

A life coach is someone who partners with clients to help them overcome challenges, attain goals, and make changes in their lives. It is an individual who is passionate about helping others progress towards their dreams and goals, in practical and authentic ways.

  • Life coaches provide support, motivation, and accountability to empower their clients to excel in their personal and professional lives by reaching their desired outcomes.

While life coaches and therapists work within a similar healing profession, it is important to distinguish between a life coach and a therapist. Clients who receive therapy services will meet with a licensed professional to discuss topics such as emotions, behavioral patterns, mental diagnoses, symptoms, and any challenges hindering their mental health. Therapists are not only highly educated in the field of mental health; but they are also licensed and regulated by state-specific behavioral boards. There are many reasons why a client might choose to seek the services of a therapist. It is not the role of the life coach to perform counseling services that should be completed under the scope of practice of a licensed mental health professional.

Life Coaching Emphasis

The premise and magic of life coaching rests in the goal-setting and forward movement of personal and/or professional growth. Whether a client needs help in identifying goals or breaking through limitations that impact their goals, a life coach can be a valuable and supportive ally.

Who is Life Coaching For?

Life coaching is for anyone who is actively seeking to level up, navigate transitions, reconnect with purpose, or move through stagnation.

My Approach

  • I value the recognition that being human is a complex journey, one that impacts every area of our life. As such, my holistic approach will always be to prioritize a client’s comprehensive life experience, regardless of what specific goal we are working with.

  • Understanding our biology and how our nervous system and body are wired to respond to stress are incredible nuggets of wisdom with which to work!

As a coach, I seek to empower clients’ reconnection with their body and all of the messages and signals it sends every day. I incorporate body-based practices, such as gentle movement and yoga, breathwork, and Polyvagal Theory tools for emotional regulation and nervous system balance

  • We all have stories to tell; and we all live from stories that exist deep within our ancestral family lines.

Through nervous system regulation, I help clients make sense of their internal narratives, challenge their effectiveness in the present moment, and utilizing creative modalities to reauthor those stories.

  • You are the author of your life. Through collaborative effort, my job is to guide clients through reflection and identification of their own personal self-agency and wisdom. While we can heal from the impact trauma leaves in its wake, my approach is to help clients understand the systemic nuances of trauma, without further triggering it in their present functioning.

Who I Work With

A woman with dark hair, wearing a white dress, is painting a portrait on a canvas, possibly of a person's face, in an art studio.

Clients in leadership, creatives in transition, heart-led entrepreneurs, healing-centered individuals, and anyone ready to make changes in their life

Life stages: career pivots, relationship changes, identity redefinition, burnout and stress recovery

Colorful international flags hanging on strings in an alleyway with brick and concrete walls, with a streetlamp overhead.

International, immigrant, or bicultural folks wanting to align purpose and belonging; individuals or families navigating acculturation, assimilation, or war trauma stress

I am passionate about working with clients who are ready to make some big changes in their life, whether personal or professional. You don’t have to have all the answers (or any, for that matter), but you do have to want to shake things up, pivot from the usual and the comfortable, and invite in moments of deep reflective work.

  • Yes! You can have both a life coach and a therapist. It can often be helpful in having a supportive team to assist you, regardless of what you may be navigating in life.

Note: your Life Coach cannot also be your Therapist and vice versa. This would create a conflict of interest.

  • Life happens, I get it! I kindly ask for 24-hour notice if you need to cancel a session or reschedule. I will do my best to offer an alternative time, in order to ensure a consistent relationship in our work together.

If you do have to miss a session and don’t provide 24-hour notice or communication, thereof, you will be charged the full fee of that scheduled session
